Lou Holtz to speak at IBS opening ceremonies

Legendary football coach and current ESPN analyst (some say antagonist) Lou Holtz will provide the keynote address for the Show’s opening ceremonies, scheduled for the morning of Jan. 20. Perhaps best known for his 11-year tenure as head coach at Notre Dame, where he led the Irish from the doldrums to a national championship in 1988, Holtz has transferred his plain talk to TV and speaking engagements. His weekly “Dr. Lou” segment for ESPN’s college football coverage, during which coaches, players, and fans pose questions to the Hall of Famer for his sage advice, has developed a cult following and disgorged a few inflammatory comments. Builders can expect an entertaining and fiery, if homespun, speech from a seasoned motivational orator; just don’t count on a Dr. Lou session to follow. Chances are that Holtz’s venerable football acumen has more than a fair share of general business analogies and points about perseverance amid adversity, but he’s likely no expert on home building specifically; that role will be filled by his opening acts, including a green building expert, an industry consultant, and a public opinion research guru.
