Chicago-based tool manufacturer Klein Tools has acquired substantially all the business assets of Melbourne, Australia-based ElMako Pty Ltd, including the Wattmaster and Alco tool brands. No further terms of the transaction have been disclosed.

The Wattmaster brand markets and distributes a range of electrician’s tools, instruments and consumables in Australia, while Alco provides a comprehensive range of Metal Cable Glands designed to meet both Australian and international standards.

This transaction marks Klein’s second Australian market investment following its acquisition of South Australia-based Mumme Tools in 2010.

“The Wattmaster business is very appealing to Klein Tools as we continue to expand our Australian-market presence,” says Thomas R. Klein, Sr., chairman of Klein Tools. “Wattmaster and Klein Tools have much in common, including loyal customers and reputations for high-quality products. We believe our combined resources will present additional growth opportunities, and we’re excited to welcome Wattmaster and Alco to the Klein Tools family.”
