Behind the Numbers:

Shed of markets that weren’t large enough to justify its operations, Ryland’s numbers improved impressively in its first quarter. Yes, the company still lost money, $3 million if you don’t count the winding down operations; $5.1 million if you do. But the company’s future looks brighter with a 43% jump in sales orders.
