Project Description
The carport is envisioned as a protective space for vehicles and gathering space for special occasions. The owner’s interest in art and mid-century modern furniture was carried into the design of the structure and its details. Utilitarian storage needs are balanced with a warm aesthetic; the carport reads as a piece of ipe-clad furniture. The roof is a canvas for sedum planting trays and is visible from the house. A storage shed is kept independent of the carport, with polycarbonate walls lit from the interior.
