Project Description
A single family residence, an urban retreat with striking views in an odd shaped subdivision lot. In response to the client’s budget this house was designed to follow typical construction methods used in production housing. A simple rectangle shape with a single span truss was the primary structural framing making for very simple and fast erection of the superstructure which helped keep the costs low. The interior of the house is oriented to take full advantage of views due east (Camelback Mountain). Full height glazing was used generously along the east and sparingly elsewhere. The result is a play of solid and void surrounded by desert landscape and a sophisticated interior retreat.
