Builder's Choice and Custom Home Awards Finalist
"I want the kitchen to connect us to the outside," was the instruction from our client. This kitchen, an addition to a home we designed fifteen years prior, was a great opportunity to weave traditional materials with a modern sense of space and detail.
Designed to connect not only to the outdoors through walls of lift and slide glass but also to the homes' living and dining areas, the room is gathered around an enormous central soapstone island that shares prep, eating and cooking spaces. A walk-in pantry hidden behind the refrigeration lends storage space. The open quality of the kitchen allows views east to west through the house, always connecting the space to the out of doors.
