Project Description

The former public library for the Town of Carbondale was repurposed into two dance studios, offices and a locals’ artists’ gallery, now collectively known as The Launchpad. Serving as an all-encompassing ‘Space for the Arts,’ this project addressed the community’s need for affordable and accessible spaces for movement-based artists and musicians to teach, create and rehearse. The gallery encourages an increased economy and creates visibility for local artists, while the offices house CCAH, the organizers of Carbondale’s creative district. By merging the arts, the space has transformed the local art scene and allowed for increased exposure to classes and presentations for the local community.
