Project Description

South Campus Chiller Plant was designed by JAHN to serve “almost as a piece of equipment,” with its glass skin revealing the color-coded inner workings of the building. Located next to its brick predecessor at Blackstone Avenue and 61st Street, the plant generates chilled water and steam for the south and east sides of campus.

Distinct in its surroundings and among its kind, the building has received design awards from the American Institute of Architects, AIA Chicago, the Chicago Architecture Foundation, and McGraw Hill.
