Project Description

Heritage preservation meets mixed-use in this transformation of a block-long public works building in downtown Toronto. Waterworks draws on both historic and contemporary urban context to create a vibrant community hub in a rapidly expanding neighbourhood.
This development turns a former water treatment plant in downtown Toronto into a Food Hall where one stood in the 19th-century, a YMCA, retail mews, and 299 residential units. An existing social services agency, Eva’s Phoenix, will remain in the building and a number of condos will be operated through a non-profit housing provider.
