Data software company Skycatch, led by Christian Sanz, partnered with drone manufacturer DJI to launch the Commander app, which automates the data captured by drones to create maps of construction sites. Users outline the area they want to map and the app automatically generates the optimal route. Images and data such as measurements and site layouts collected by the drone are processed into high-resolution maps and 3D models, which can then be used to inform business decisions and carry out functions such as calculating assets, planning logistics, and reporting progress. The data and mapping information can be downloaded to a company’s software of choice, and can be overlaid with CAD files or other modeling tools. The app currently works on iOS devices.
