PRINCIPAL, TIGHE ARCHITECTURE
Innovation:
CBuilding with high-density spray foam.
Vision:
For Tighe, the capabilities of polyurethane spray foam stretch beyond lining roofs and filling wall cavities. In 2011, his robotically fabricated installation for Los Angeles’ SCI-Arc Gallery used high- and low- density foams to build a freestanding, parabolic chamber.
Economics:
The firm has developed a concept for a 2,700-square-foot single- family home made mostly of spray foam. Spray-On House is in early stages, though it’s already claimed a 2016 ARCHITECT magazine R+D Award.
