In January of 2018, the nation’s third-largest home builder, PulteGroup, announced a partner-ship with Georgia Power to create Atlanta’s first Smart Neighborhood. The series of 46 smart home-enabled and energy-efficient townhomes will make up the first phase of Altus at the Quarter, a new luxury townhome community in Atlanta’s Upper West Side, which Pulte plans to build out with over 200 homes. The homes will feature distributed energy resources with rooftop solar panels and in home battery storage.

Pulte says the community, and the partnership with the power provider, will serve as a “real-world energy study” that will give the companies data and insight into energy performance, consumer behavior and usage, and cost-effectiveness for building smart, efficient homes going forward. The homes will also include the latest in smart home technology with smart thermo-stats, smart front-door locksets, and garage door openers as standard, plus an a la carte menu of other internet of things offerings, and personal digital assistant capabilities.
