Named a BuildingGreen Top Product in 2017, USG’s Securock ExoAir 430 system is the only gypsum sheathing panel integrated with a pre-applied fluid air-barrier membrane to control air, water, and vapor in new residential construction. This factory-applied weather barrier combines Securock’s fiberglass-faced sheathing and Tremco weather barrier sealant to protect building materials from air and water leakage. While traditional weather barriers are often exposed to the elements, such as air and moisture, and require nearly perfect conditions to be applied, the Securock barrier is applied in the factory and arrives on site ready- to- go. Not only is it more effective than traditional weather barriers, but it allows for faster installation and reduces jobsite waste, the company says.

In addition, membrane adhesion is assured; it can’t wash off from rain or from improper sheathing preparation, the company says. The system’s three key components—USG Securock gypsum, Tremco’s ExoAir 230 Membrane and Dymonic 100—have all been certified Gold by the Greenguard Environmental Institute.
