Giant Snails Terrorize Miami Homeowners

These aren’t your average garden snail: Giant African land snails grow as long as 8 inches, chew through plaster and stucco, and sometimes carry a parasite that can infect humans with a nonlethal strain of meningitis.

Although mostly eradicated now, the slimy creatures grossed out Florida residents a few years ago, the Wall Street Journal reported.
