2013 Product Review: Editor’s Choice

1 MIN READ

Deck builders have come to rely on PDB for up-to-date information on the latest innovations in framing materials, hardware, decking, railings, fences, hardscaping, deck accessories, and tools. On the following pages, we’ve compiled all of our product reviews from 2013.

On this page, we feature four outstanding products worthy of special attention. Check out CertainTeed’s UnderShield under-deck drainage system if you’re interested in reclaiming usable storage or living space under an elevated deck. Hidden fasteners continue to grow in popularity, and the addition of clips for non-grooved boards to the InvisiDeck system makes it compatible with softwoods like cedar and southern yellow pine, medium-density hardwoods such as mahogany and Cambara, and composite and PVC decking. SkyLift roof risers caught our attention for the way they take advantage of standard pipe-jack flashing to simplify a tricky flashing detail. Finally, the Smart-Bit depth setter is an inexpensive, well-made drill accessory that can be used for many other applications besides installing decking.
