Best Master Bath in a Custom Home
How do you create a bathroom that’s contemporary without having it read as chilly? For this winning master bath, the answer revolved around texture and some inventive use of glass. “We wanted it to be a warm, clean-lined spa environment,” says homeowner Paul T. Schumacher, president of Schumacher Homes, an on-your-lot custom builder in Canton, Ohio. “There are imperfections that help make it feel warm and inviting.”
Those imperfections show up in such things as the seeded glass used in the cabinets, the etched glass on the lower perimeter windows, and strategic applications of green glass tiles that feature—here and there—sun, star, and moon embellishments. There’s marble on the floor, but it’s in a pattern that looks more like warm limestone.
Of course, there’s nothing imperfect about such big-ticket items as the soaking tub, glass vessel sinks, and shower tower, all from Kohler. They make perfect sense in a home that’s an 11,000-square-foot custom beauty.
