Faucet maker Gessi has unveiled a new line of sensor taps, a series of hands-free bath faucets that combine slim minimalist design with technology that enables users to reduce contact with high-touch surfaces.

The sensor taps operate at a flow rate of 1.2 gallons per minute at 43 PSI and 0.2 gallons per cycle. Each one incorporates a highly sensitive infrared sensor that activates water flow as soon as hands approach the top or sensor plate within a detection distance that may be adjusted by the user. The water automatically shuts off within two seconds of the user removing their hands.

The faucets are available in designs from across the brand, including Incisio by David Rockwell, Rilievo by HBA, Rettangolo, and Gessi 316. Depending on the model, the sensor plates are located in the tap plate, faucet base, or on a separate sensor in a matching style and finish. Configurations include basin mixers, wall-mounted faucets, or stand-alone units with separate controls.

The Incisio, Rettangolo, and Rilievo are all constructed from solid brass, while the Gessi 316 is constructed from stainless steel. All are available in a choice of metallic, matte, or textured or patterned finishes.
