Dow has launched the newest addition to its Great Stuff product line – the Great Stuff Pro Gasket, a water-based, one-component air sealant foam designed to form a gasket between drywall and framing.
Unlike traditional gasketing spray foams, the gasket is compressible and does not expand. This allows for flat wall plane, and eliminates over-application concerns or the need to trim excess foam. It is also very durable, unlike mechanically-fixed gasketing, which may pop off or tear during drywall application. The water-based foam solution is a low-VOC product, and allows for water clean-up for over-application, drips, or spills.
These improvements allow builders and installers to save on money and time, exceed code standards for air sealing performance, and provide greater comfort, higher energy-efficiency, and lower utility costs for home owners,
“Great Stuff Pro gives contractors a reliable way to improve air-sealing performance between a home’s framing lumber and drywall,” says Linda Jeng, Building & Construction marketing manager. “The unique gasket and dispense gun application allows the professional insulators to maximize energy savings without any changes to construction sequencing and deliver a quality home the builder can be proud of and the home owner can enjoy.”
The foam should be applied to the face of the framing lumber and cured for 2 to 24 hours, depending on local humidity. www.dowgreatstuff.com
