Kebony Character knotty Scotch pine decking

Kebony Character knotty Scotch pine decking is a good choice for rustic-looking projects. Rather than being treated with copper-based chemicals, Kebony decking is modified through a proprietary process using a bio-based liquid and heat to produce harder and thicker wood cell walls that make the wood dimensionally stable and resistant to rot. The company says that exposed end-grain cuts can be sealed with a wood preservative, but warns against ripping or further machining the wood, which would expose untreated heartwood. Kebony Character is available in a number of different sizes and profiles that can be used for both decking and exterior cladding, and has a 25-year warranty against rot for above-ground applications. Most Kebony products are produced in Norway, and distributed in North America by the Pine River Group in St. Clair, Mich. Pine River Group, 855.230.5656, pinerivergroup.com
