DuPont, the manufacturer of well-known Tyvek HomeWrap, has developed another Tyvek material that installs over roofing rafters and under roof decking materials to prevent air leakage into a home’s attic space. Laminated AtticWrap features a reinforcement layer that makes it stronger, tougher, and more tear-resistant than HomeWrap, the manufacturer says. It is also specifically designed to withstand the loads associated with roofing applications. Instead of being anchored to structural components, Tyvek AtticWrap is draped across roofing rafters in an unsupported installation. The sealed, vented, breathable wrap allows moisture to escape the attic while locking out air and water infiltration.
