Garage door opener manufacturer and installer LiftMaster has found that a growing number of its homeowners are purchasing and using garage door openers for other household applications and design motifs.
Some customers have installed the openers on doors in other parts of their homes, including secret doors to home movie theaters, game rooms, or “man caves.” These automatic doors add a unique decorative touch to the home’s interior and give the space an air of playfulness. The openers can also control dividers between indoor and outdoor spaces, or power platform lifts into an overhead storage area.
Homeowners can also integrate their secret door or platform lift into their smart home setup with a Wi-Fi capable opener, such as those in LiftMaster’s Elite Series. Using this system, homeowners could check the status of their garage doors, control them from a distance, and receive an alert whenever a door is used, among other features.
