Garage door and gate opener manufacturer LiftMaster has introduced the 12VDC Solar Residential Linear Actuator Package, a swing gate operator optimized for – and packaged with – a solar panel power source.
The gate operators are available in single- or double- swing gate applications, and suitable for residential or commercial use for vehicular swing gates. The hardware includes a heavy-duty DC motor, offers smooth start/stop and mid-travel reversal, and provides industrial surge protection against strikes up to 50 feet away.
The full kit includes the operator, control box, and a 12-volt solar panel, which provides up to 126 days of standby power to the gate operator and minimizes power consumption when it is not in use. According to the manufacturer, this system eliminates the costs of trenching to pull power to the gate in remote areas, and qualifies for a 30% – 22% tax credit on solar gate operators and installation through 2021.
The operator’s Security+ 2.0 system incorporates a retro-reflective photo eye, as well as a reversing sensor that activates when obstructions are detected. It is myQ enabled, allowing users to control and monitor the gate from anywhere using the myQ app.
The system is rated for gates up to 16 feet or 850 pounds, and meets UL 325 safety standards. liftmaster.com
