A Touch of Bamboo

1 MIN READ

Bamboo fences and products look good and bring a touch of sustainability tooutdoor spaces. “You might compare it to a cedar fence, for example,” saysJonathan Henke, president of Bamboo Fencer. “Cedar takes 40 yearsto grow, and bamboo will take three years to grow before harvesting.”

Henke also talks about the versatility of his company’s offerings. Customerscan choose from a variety of classic Japanese-style screening fences for theiryards; use bamboo as ceiling or wall coverings; or, for a touch of wood, framea rolled-out fence with Western red cedar. Some more unusual projectsinclude a 6-foot-by-3-foot bamboo foot bridge, bamboo pillar coverings, andan orchid house made entirely out of bamboo. “The bamboo fencesare often seen as Japanese style,” says Henke, “but, we can alsobuild things to fit into a more modern, contemporary design.”

The size and width of standard products can be customized, and Bamboo Fencerwill work from drawings or ideas to create completely custom items. Productsship with installation instructions. Bamboo Fencer. 888.381.3892.www.bamboofencer.com. Circle 1301.
