“American Top 40,” a weekly radio show that keeps track of the 40 most popular songs in the U.S., has been a favorite program for many over the last 40 years. People like it because it tells them who is hot and who is not.

Based on reader service requests, the list gives us a glimpse into the psyche of the home building industry over the past year.
What did this year’s list reveal? For one, home builders are very much interested in energy-saving products. You’re intrigued by insulated siding (which counted for four of the top 10 products), tankless water heaters, energy-efficient HVAC systems, and high-performance windows.
