Mineral Fragments Combining fragments of marble, limestone, or travertine with pigments to form a paste, Stone Age Designs creates modern scagliola stone in a process similar to that developed by 17th-century Italian monks. The resulting stone has a surface and texture like quarried stone and is lightweight for easy installation. This modern scagliola is molded into a variety of architectural accents such as arches, columns, pillars, walls, fireplace mantels, range hoods (shown), fountains, staircases, and waterfalls for interior and exterior applications.

Architectural Reclamation Sourced from regions all over France, antique white oak beams, limestone flooring and wall tiles, terra-cotta flooring, wood plank flooring, wood wall paneling, and a variety of antiquities are reclaimed by French Antique Architectural Concepts for use in a variety of residential applications.

The firm specializes in reclaiming and working with timber beams that originally were part of post-and-beam structures built between the 16th and 18th centuries.

Courtesy French Antique Architectural Concepts Once cleaned, de-nailed, and hand-scraped, the beams are usually used as decorative trusses but “it’s basically up to the client … to determine what they want to turn the beams into,” says company co-owner Rick Shaff. Beams have been milled into shutters, cabinetry, flooring, fireplace mantels, and more.

Wood materials are primarily left unfinished, but the company will work with clients on textures, finishes, and colors.
