Countertop manufacturer Wilsonart has infused fingerprint-resistant technology into laminate, producing a countertop surface that is resistant to pesky smears, smudges, streaks, and fingerprints. The Traceless Laminate line debuts with five new neutral, “soft-and-silky” laminate patterns: Snow White Velvet, Cream Velvet, Silver Velvet, Charcoal Velvet, and Black Velvet.

“Wilsonart Traceless Laminate addresses a common problem that will cease to wreak havoc on laminate surfaces, starting today. Our fingerprint-resistant technology ensures smears, smudges and streaks are almost never seen,” said Garret Quarles, specialty products manager at Wilsonart, in a news release.

The company says the surface material is easy-to-clean as it resists smudges and smears, and is highly durable with heat, impact and scratch resistance. It also has a UL GREENGUARD Gold certification for low-chemical emissions. Wilsonart’s Traceless technology is infused into the decorative laminate during the manufacturing process making it part of the product, not just a top coat.

Laminate has long been an optimal choice for homeowners on a budget, but also can have some aesthetic disadvantages, such as visible creases and seams on corners. Wilsonart also has a full line of laminate countertop options that eliminate many of these problems. The firm says its laminate is resistant to odor- and stain-causing mold and mildew, as well as scratches and scuffs, and is an environmentally-friendly and less expensive alternative to stone. Earlier this year, Wilsonart debuted 24 new surface colors in its original laminate line: twenty stone designs and four woodgrain patterns, and a matte finish for six colors.

The new Traceless Laminate material is now available in 4’x8’ and 4’x10’ sheets in a thickness of 0.039”.
