Blink

Home security company Blink announced the launch of a video doorbell, a wireless device that will provide homeowners with HD video alerts, motion-detection, live streaming video with two-way audio, infrared night vision, weatherproofing and more.

The camera connects to homeowners’ WiFi and allows them to interact with those at the door from their smart phone with live video streaming and two-way audio. When the camera detects motion, the doorbell will record short video clips and send an alert to the customer’s smartphone to view. The camera is also weather-proof and uses infrared night vision for round-the-clock surveillance.

The battery-powered device, which runs on 2 standard AA lithium batteries with a 2-year battery life, can be installed anywhere without wiring. If desired, the camera can be wired with the existing doorbell wiring to extend the battery life and utilize the doorbell chime.

The device will cost $99 for existing Blink customers, or new customers can purchase a stand-alone system consisting of a Blink Video Doorbell and Blink Sync Module for $129. Blink offers cloud storage with no monthly contract or fees.
