We are pleased to announce the publication of At Home by the Sea: Houses Designed for Living at the Water’s Edge, written by CUSTOM HOME senior editor Bruce D. Snider and photographed by contributing photographer Brian Vanden Brink.
The book, available online at Amazon.com, combines Vanden Brink’s award winning photography and Snider’s insightful writing to give readers a tour of 21 stunning seaside homes. Locations range from Canada’s rugged Bay of Fundy to the tropic beaches of St. Barths. These dream houses are set in such dream locations as Hilton Head, S.C.; Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.; coastal Maine; and coastal California.
Snider provides the backstory of homes that range from the historic to the ultra-modern, and Vanden Brink’s photos illustrate how they are intimately linked to their seascape settings. Floor plans and site plans are included for most of the houses.
Vanden Brink has been photographing architecture for more than three decades and his work has been featured in publications such as Architectural Digest, Metropolitan Home, and Coastal Living, as well as Custom Home. Snider, a resident of coastal Maine, has spent more than 25 years designing and writing about houses, and has been Custom Home senior editor for 10 years.
