A.O. Smith has launched a new line of residential gas tankless water heater units complete with a proprietary X3 Scale Prevention Technology.

According to the manufacturer, the X3 technology eliminates the need for regular scale-related maintenance on a tankless unit, as well as the need to buy costly isolation valves. Units with this technology are packaged with a 15-year “Peace of Mind” limited warranty, which covers all scale-related failures if they occur.

“A. O. Smith has been a long-time innovator in the water heating industry, but in recent years we’ve focused heavily on water treatment as well,” says David Chisolm, vice president of marketing for A. O. Smith. “It makes sense that these two technologies can strengthen and improve each other. We’re excited to debut a product that will change the way the industry thinks about tankless water heating.”

The new tankless water heater line is available in three sizes, with maximum BTU/h inputs of 160K, 180K, and 199K. Each one includes an integrated recirculation pump, and is ENERGY STAR qualified with UEFs up to 0.93. The combustion systems operate on a ½-inch gas line and vent with 2-inch PVC. hotwater.com
