Panasonic Eco Solutions North America has upgraded two of its existing ventilation fans: the WhisperCeiling DC and the WhisperSense DC. The ENERGY STAR-certified precision fans both work to improve air quality by removing air contaminants from enclosed home spaces. They are recommended for use in the bathroom, laundry room, basement, or garage.
The fans now include Panasonic’s Pick-A-Flow speed selector, which allows users to customize the fan’s airflow CFM. Two CFM adjustment ranges are available – 50/80/110 CFM or 110/130/150. The Pick-a-Flow feature works in tandem with the fan’s existing ECM motor with SmartFlow technology, which automatically adjusts fan speed to meet optimal CFM output in any duct run.
The fans’ Flez-Z Fast bracket allows for quick, easy installation from both above and below the ceiling. The built-in damper reduces the fan’s back drafting and helps with blower door testing, while the metal flange serves as an air and water barrier for drywall protection. The fans are UL listed for tub/shower enclosure when GFCI protected.
Both fans can be used to comply with ASHRAE 62.2, LEED, IAP, EarthCraft, California Title 24, and WA Ventilation Code. The WhisperSense DC line also includes a built-in dual sensor for motion and for moisture, which can be used to comply with CALGreen requirements.
“The combination of our Pick-A-Flow speed selector combined with SmartFlow™ technology helps simplify the selection process and ensures optimum performance to meet code and reduce callbacks. Distributors can now carry less inventory without sacrificing selection, while builders ensure their homes are better equipped to stand up against stale air and excess moisture,” says Patricia Monks, national marketing manager of Panasonic Eco Solutions North America.
Both the WhisperCeiling DC and the WhisperSense DC are available with an optional LED light panel in the center. These models incorporate a 10W dimmable LED light with 700 lumens of light output and a <1W LED night light. The light is ENERGY STAR 2.0 certified and Title 24 compliant, and has an average rated life of 50,000 hours. www.panasonic.com
