A recent innovation in gypsum technology promises to be an important weapon in the war on mold in buildings. GP Gypsum’s two new patented gypsum wall-board products, DensArmor Interior Guard and DensArmor Plus Interior Guard, combine the company’s patented glass-mat Dens technology with a noncom-bustible core that is reinforced with inorganic glass fibers. Inorganic materials have been proven to inhibit the growth of mold and mildew because they provide no food for spores. DensArmor Interior Guard is made with a glass-mat backing and heavy-duty paper facing to combat mold and mildew growth inside wall cavities (a common growth area), while DensArmor Plus is both faced and backed with the glass mat for even greater resistance.
