Owens Corning has selected Prattville, Alabama for its new shingle manufacturing plant, a 250,000-square-foot facility that will create nearly 100 skilled manufacturing jobs when production begins in 2027.
The company plans to break ground in early 2026 on the facility, which will run a laminator capable of producing roughly 6 million squares of laminate shingles per year.
Why It Matters: The southeastern United States is the biggest roofing shingle region in the country, powered by a growing population and active construction across multiple sectors. The new facility is expected to help the company meet this sustained demand and strengthen their U.S. manufacturing footprint.
“We are proud to join the Prattville community and expand Owens Corning’s presence in Alabama,” said Nico Del Monaco, Roofing President. “This is an attractive location to service our customers, with a dedicated workforce that takes pride in producing a quality product.”
Once complete, Owens Corning will operate 17 asphalt roofing and components plants in the U.S.
Alabama has become a national leader in key industries and a destination for business growth in recent years, thanks to its central location in the Southeast, available workforce and pro-business policies.
The Details:
- Construction starts early 2026
- Production begins 2027

For builders in the Southeast, the new plant means better access to high-demand products and a more resilient supply chain in the nation’s busiest roofing market.
