Shower Therapy Combining the technologies of hydraulics, plumbing, and electronics with the ancient practice of hydrotherapy, the SilverTAG shower provides a European-style spa treatment custom-designed to each client’s specific needs. The shower is designed to target six body zones with a total of 18 shower-heads, each controlled by a computer to accommodate
any of the six preprogrammed and two custom sequences. “What’s really unique is the precision it’s able to produce,” says SilverTAG designer and architect Tag Galyean. Galyean’s company, TAG Signature, developed the software that controls the system. Each shower is designed to fit the individual client’s height and therapeutic needs. “We interview and get to know the client and what their expecations are, what kind of special needs they might have, says Galyean.
TAG’s technicians install the electronics, a plumbing subcontractor installs all the plumbing according to TAG’s specifications, and the builder completes installation of the shower envelope. Nine months after installation, a TAG designer follows up with a visit to fine-tune the shower. The waterproof touchscreen control panel mounts in the shower area. 304.793.2247. www.electroluxusa.com.
Moving Mosaics Working primarily with tesserae (mosaic materials) in split stone and glass and sometimes in vitreous glass and unglazed porcelain, George Fishman produces original mosaic art in a range of styles. He has created mosaics for fountains, swimming pools, door surrounds, stone rugs, and fireplace surrounds, as well as pictorial murals and decorative motifs. Fishman says his satisfaction in his work comes from taking on a challenging project and finding ways to make the design fit the client’s needs. “I like the challenge of dealing with some specific parameters, a theme, and even a general palette of colors,” he says. He can work from a designer’s or architect’s illustrations, but he prefers to originate the design himself.
Inspiration for project themes comes from many sources. The Flaming Fireplace (pictured right) was inspired by a house fire that occurred during the client’s home remodel. Most of Fishman’s mosaic work is completed in his Miami studio, mounted to a panel, and shipped to the jobsite for professional installation. 305.758.1141.
