Johns Manville has an interesting new flashing product made from what they’re calling a “butyl-blend.” The Seal-It flashing line, like butyl flashings, can install at temperatures as low as 20 degrees, but the Seal-It line is offered at a better value than other butyl products on the market. It could be a nice option for high-volume builders looking for the benefits of butyl flashings without the costs. The products have superior adhesion qualities and have passed hurricane-level windblown rain tests, according to the manufacturer, and can be installed and left exposed for 120 days without ultraviolet degradation. It is offered in straight or flexible versions, as well as a sill solution with a dam. Johns Manville. 800-251-1660, ext. 3772. www.jm.com/builder.

Universal Forest Products joined the ranks of composite decking manufacturers offering tropical-flavored decking with its new Sienna line. Using what the company calls a “streaker board,” the planks have a realistic dark wood grain down the center that made them look more realistic than their other wood grain counterparts. Sienna is part of the Latitudes decking line, which also includes redwood, cedar, and gray colors. Universal Forest Products. 877-463-8379. www.latitudesdeck.com.
