Solar Hot Water Heating

Heating water with solar energy is remarkably simple—and becoming more affordable and aesthetically acceptable. A typical residential system is basically an extension of the home’s plumbing run to rooftop collectors that absorb and transfer the sun’s heat to water or an antifreeze-like liquid that then moves through a controller to a water heater tank.

Process

1 Heat Transfer The sun heats up liquid that is plumbed and pumped through the collectors.

2 Heat Pump A controller pumps the liquid into a specially designed storage tank.

3 Ready for Distribution The liquid heats the water inside the tank.
