Strand + Hvass Freestanding Indoor Fireplace

Danish aesthetics make this contemporary wood-burning fireplace a focal point

1 MIN READ

The Hwam 3055 FS freestanding wood-burning fireplace, designed by Danish firm Strand + Hvass, elevates the discussion of contemporary indoor fireplaces—literally. An integrated pedestal raises the black-cube fire chamber nearly 20 inches off the floor while an up-swing glass-pane door keeps ash inside and offers easy access to the 2-cubic-foot combustion chamber. The system uses a proprietary air control system in the chamber to send heat through the glass-pane door and top and side vents to heat up to 1,900 square feet for four to five hours; the flue can be installed through the top or back of the unit.
