A home that responds to its owners’ needs might seem like one that needs to be loaded up with home automation, buttons, switches, and all the associated bells and whistles. The 2016 Builder Responsive Home Project absolutely includes smart home technology on a variety of levels, but that’s only scratches the surface. These homes respond it non-digital ways too, thanks to wide-span doors, alternative energy, and important design and construction choices that will let future homeowners truly customize and adapt their living spaces.

Here’s a look at the smart and stylish product selections made by design director Bobby Berk, and the teams from project partners Pardee Homes and Bassenian Lagoni.
