Matterport has announced its most affordable True3DTM capture camera, the Pro2 Lite, which will offer the same high-quality 2D capture and 3D interactive walkthrough capture functionality as the Pro2 camera at just over half the cost.
Unlike 360 panorama 3D capture, Matterport’s True3DTM capture creates fully immersive 3D “dollhouse” models of the properties and spaces that it captures, with smooth transitions between rooms. The “dollhouse” model can communicate spatial relationships at a glance, as well as an immediate understanding of scale.
The Pro2 Lite camera is lighter than its predecessor, and its push-button based operation requires no special training to use. Key differences between the Pro2 Lite and Pro2 include a shorter battery life – up to 8,000 square feet of space on a four hour charge – and a different price structure for content creation.
According to the manufacturer, the Pro2 Lite’s accessible use and price point is intended to help more industry professionals meet the new baseline for property marketing, communication, and documentation, among other property applications. “Matterport offers the world’s most advanced 3D reality capture platform for businesses that want to interact with clients and partners in immersive True3DTM,” says Bill Brown, Matterport CEO. “Immersive 3D media is on track to replace 2D photography as the digital medium to communicate about properties, and the Pro2 Lite will help to accelerate that shift.”
Matterport has also recently enabled the publishing of Matterport capture to Google Street View, as well as faster “capture” capabilities for its cameras.
The Pro2 Lite retails at $2,495. It is set to ship in March, and is currently available for pre-order. matterport.com
