At 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2-inch sizes and no more than 5.1 inches in length, the new M12 FUEL Stubby Impact Wrenches, available in September 2018, are the smallest impact wrenches in Milwaukee Tool’s current catalog – and the smallest cordless impact wrenches available on the market, according to the manufacturer.
The wrench’s small size is designed for maneuverability in tight spaces. “During applications that allow limited access, many professionals have resorted to reaching for pneumatic stubby impacts. However, the limited portability, maintenance, and noise associated with pneumatic units has been a frustration for these users,” says Eric Rusch, senior product manager at Milwaukee Tool. “Due to our extensive research with users on the jobsite and in the shop, we saw an opportunity to truly disrupt this space by creating a cordless solution that not only boasts the benefits of no hoses and no maintenance, but is also designed with the compact size and power to tackle these types of applications.”
The POWERSTATE brushless motors on the 3/8 and 1/2-inch wrenches deliver up to 250 ft-lbs of breakaway torque, while the 1/4-inch wrench’s motor delivers up to 100 ft-lbs. Users can switch between four power and speed modes that allow for precision control, with an auto-shutoff on the highest setting to prevent over-fastening.
The MSRP ranges from $149 to $159 for bare tools, and from $219 to $249 for the tool kits. Each kit includes the wrench, two M12 REDLITHIUM battery packs – XC 4.0 and 2.0 – a charging station, and a case. The 1/2-inch tool is also available as a pin detent impact wrench. milwaukeetool.com
