USGBC Introduces LEED App Lab

1 MIN READ

Launching with eight apps already in place, the LEED App Lab provides builders, architects, consultants, and others involved in green building a searchable collection of third-party smartphone and tablet applications that are integrated with the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) online LEED systems. The USGBC worked with several companies offering LEED-related apps and formed partnerships with those whose products best benefit industry pros seeking LEED certification. Apps from these automation partners directly interact with USGBC’s online LEED systems to make all parts of certification easier to navigate and complete.

The eight initial apps provide various tools to help with credit scorecards and strategies as well as other project management tasks and communications. The USGBC will let its selected automation partners publish new apps to the lab and it also will seek out new partners. Scot Horst, USGBC senior vice president, LEED, says the organization devised the app lab to make green building more accessible to a wider audience as well as to create more opportunities to dive deeper into accreditation options for those already participating in LEED.
