A 17-inch flat screen television brings a high-tech touch to the Alno Libero collection. Mounted on the back of a glass or mirrored cabinet door, the LCD screen completely disappears when turned off. Sound transmits through flat speakers, and the entire inside of the cabinet can be used for storage.
The Libero collection is not a full line of cabinets, but is made of products that can add to Home and Lifestyle cabinetry lines. Other products in the Libero collection include units with roller shutters made of frosted or clear glass, corner units with glass doors and colored lighting, and a display cabinet with a window to partially show what is stored inside. The picture above shows the television in the AlnoArt Pro line of the Lifestyle collection. Alno. 617.896.2700. www.alno.com.
Hot Roof
Velux, a skylight manufacturer, has added a solar water-heating system to its product line that integrates with the company’s roof windows. The system consists of rooftop units that use the sun to heat water and a hot water holding tank. The holding tanks come in 80- and 120-gallon sizes, and two or three rooftop units usually are installed. The system contains an antifreeze solution that allows it to operate everywhere in the United States except for some parts of Alaska, the maker says. Considering federal tax rebates, possible state rebates, and energy savings, Velux claims that the system has an anticipated payback period of three to seven years and that typically up to 80 percent of a home’s hot water needs can be met using solar heat.
