Clear as Day The Centerpoint Translucent Roofing System combines Lexan Thermoclear multiwall polycarbonate sheet from GE Plastics and Cabot Corp.’s insulating Nanogel translucent aerogel in a sloped glazing configuration. The Nanogel-coated polycarbonate panels filter light, provide high thermal insulation, offer sound dampening, and resist UV degradation, the manufacturer says. The panels let full-spectrum, diffuse natural daylight into rooms while eliminating shadows and glare and providing five times the energy efficiency of sloped glass-panel glazings. Three Translucent Roof configurations are available: The 300 series is designed for small bays and nooks; the 400 series is for square bays and rooms and for installation over patios, decks, and other square spaces; and the fan-shaped 500 series is designed for larger bays.
