MI Windows and Doors Introduces Krypton-Enhanced Insulated Glass

New krypton gas insulation provides a lower U-value than commonly-used argon, according to the manufacturer.

MI Windows and Doors is now offering three of its triple-pane replacement window products with krypton-enhanced insulated glass.

Because krypton gas is denser than the more-commonly-used argon gas, MI’s krypton-enhanced insulated glass offers improved insulation and energy-efficiency performance, according to the manufacturer.

“MI Windows and Doors is dedicated to providing customers with the highest-performing products available in today’s marketplace,” says Josh Williard, MI’s director of products. “The introduction of krypton to our window lines is just another example of these value-added efforts.”

The krypton gas is pumped between the panes of insulated glass, which are separated by MI’s warm-edge spacer system. With the substitution of krypton for argon, MI’s 1650 double-hung triple-pane window has a U-value of 0.17, compared to a 0.21 U-value with argon on the same window.

Krypton-enhanced insulated glass is currently available with MI’s 1650 double-hung, 1650 fixed, and 1685 double-slider triple-pane replacement windows. miwindows.com
