Custom-crafted, kiln-dried Western red cedar shutters are the specialty of the craftsmen at Timberlane Woodcrafters. “Our design process begins with the specifications and measurements provided by the customer,” says Rich Heggs, vice president of sales. “We discuss every project extensively with each customer to determine the size and style they’re looking for. We discuss what is historically accurate in a given geographic region for a house built in the style of a specific time period.”
All shutters are made by hand to be fully operational and historically accurate. Craftsmen use only mortise-and-tenon, rail-and-stile construction with hardwood pegs. Other standard features include working louvers; aluminum capping at the top of each shutter to prevent rain from penetrating the wood; and reproduction hand-forged iron, steel, or cast iron tie-backs, hinges, bolts, rings, and other hardware. Copper capping, shiplapping, and decorative cut-outs are available as options.
Timberlane has many standard historical styles to choose from and will design custom shutters to a client’s specific needs. Shutters are delivered unprimed or primed.
